A Florida woman says her doctor kicked her out of the exam room moments into her visit to take a phone call, then tried rescheduling her entirely. Viewers mostly sided with her, though a few defended the doctor and urged people not to jump to conclusions.
Posted to TikTok by @celia.ware70, the creator explains she’d driven 30 to 40 minutes for the appointment. Less than 30 seconds after the doctor walked in, his phone rang, and she says he asked her to step out so he could take the call.
According to her, he emerged about five minutes later, still on the call, and told her the office would reschedule her for another day.
The Florida creator pushed back, pointing out that her appointment had never actually started .The doctor then told her he’d be right back, which is where she ends her account of the visit. She later posted a follow-up.
TikTok Weighs In
Commenters largely pushed for holding the doctor accountable. “Report him for insurance fraud, because I’m pretty sure he will be billing your insurance an office visit,” one warned. While one user laid out a full plan of action, telling her to document everything, contact her insurance company, and file complaints with the state and medical board if needed.
Someone else urged her not to let the behavior slide. “Report him please. You seem like you are strong and don’t back down. Imagine how many other people he has done this to who didn’t stand up to him,” they wrote.
Frustration with the healthcare system in general came up repeatedly. “As much as we pay for healthcare to just brush you off and want you to reschedule is so unprofessional and unfair,” one commenter argued. Another simply stated, “this healthcare system is a [expletive] joke.”
Not everyone assumed the worst about the Florida doctor, though. A couple of commenters suggested that the call could have been something serious or an emergency, cautioning against judging the man without knowing his side.
Going to the doctor is already stressful enough without leaving an appointment feeling like your time didn’t matter. For many viewers, this video was another example of how exhausting it can be to deal with the healthcare system.
