Florida Senate candidate Angie Nixon mocked Vice President JD Vance’s appearance during an interview on the on Jack Cocchiarella’s podcast. She asked what eyeliner he uses and repeatedly praised how his eyes look. The exchange followed her argument that Vance’s personal attacks showed Republicans were worried about her campaign.
During the podcast, Nixon said Vance had attacked her personally because “they’re afraid” she could win. She also criticized Ashley Moody and called her a “horrible campaigner.” Nixon argued Vance had tried to help Moody but instead “helped boost me.”
“Listen, I will take that,” she said before turning the conversation toward Vance’s appearance. “Please tell me what eyeliner you use,” Nixon added.
The host called the idea “great,” prompting her to continue the joke. “His eyes are beautiful,” Nixon said. “His eyes look so beautiful. They pop.”
The host agreed that Vance’s eyes “do pop” before moving the conversation forward.
Angie Nixon Faces Backlash Over JD Vance Eyeliner Jabs
The personal back-and-forth drew criticism from users who questioned whether Nixon’s jokes belonged in a Senate campaign.
“I despise JD Vance, but he does not wear eyeliner,” one response stated. “Saying this kind of thing only makes Angie Nixon sound foolish and unserious.” Another questioned, “Did she have anything of substance to say regarding the citizens of Florida?”
Others were more direct about the tone. “Not a serious candidate. Stay on message,” one user wrote. Another joked, “Girl, you’re supposed to be a politician, not his Sephora consultant. 💀”
Some users defended Nixon’s approach. “Angie is giving as good as she got,” one response stated. Another simply wrote, “Asking the sitting VP about his eyeliner is certainly one way to launch a Senate campaign.”
It remains unclear whether Nixon will continue the personal jabs in future campaign appearances. The clip does not include any response from Vance.
