A woman from California, shortly after her father passed away, decided to have a DNA test done to determine whether she was actually his biological daughter. Sadly, the man who raised her wasn’t her biological father. When confronted with the results, the woman’s mother said she didn’t know the truth about her daughter’s paternity and refused Jocelyn’s request for a DNA test.
Jocelyn Elizabeth, the mother of five behind The Strada Family account, shared the heartbreaking revelation online. She is a family content creator who travels full-time with her children and husband, who are always featured in her videos. The clip went viral within days, garnering 693,200 views, 39,600 likes, and nearly 1,000 comments.
The woman, originally from California and in Ohio at the time, revealed that she had always wondered whether her father, who recently passed away, was her actual biological dad. She based her doubts on the fact that she didn’t look anything like him. Therefore, before he was cremated, Jocelyn held on to some of his nails and hair for a DNA test.
“I’m gonna go turn this into the lab,” she said. “And I guess we’re gonna either open up a whole new can of worms in my life or put this to rest.”
When the results arrived, Jocelyn said the DNA test showed that the man who raised her was not her biological father, with the results indicating a 0 percent probability of paternity. Devastated, Jocelyn cried and screamed.
“She lied to me my whole life,” she said, referring to her mother.
Confronting Her Mother
Moments later, Jocelyn showed a text exchange with her mother, whom she called Kathy. She asked her to sit down with her to have an “honest conversation” after a 40-year wait and also expressed her openness to her mother taking a paternity test as well.
In the text exchange Jocelyn shared, her mother said that she and Jocelyn’s late father had been heavily using cocaine around the period before Jocelyn was conceived, claiming the drug had nearly taken their lives. It was during that period of time that Kathy got pregnant, and she even said that Jocelyn’s “darling father” also did “other things” Jocelyn wasn’t aware of. In the end, the man said the child was his, and that ended the discussion.
The mother proceeded to call Jocelyn’s late father a “freak” and said that he would have lied to her if she had asked about him being her biological father. She also said that she didn’t keep a secret from Jocelyn because she “didn’t know.” Then, when her daughter insisted on the paternity test, she refused.
“No, I won’t do a DNA test, absolutely not. Never!” the woman said. Jocelyn responded that she would look into her legal options. She added that she was sorry for her mother’s soul because of her lack of accountability and responsibility.
“My father was a much better human being than you,” the California woman wrote. “The only nice thing you may have ever done in my life is pass me off to a stranger to raise me. Thank you for that.”
