A California man, Chris Ogle, gets stopped on the highway by a donkey demanding pets. The culprit is seen in the middle of the road, looking for someone to stop. The TikTok video has won over many people, with 1.6 million views, over 298,000 likes, and over 5,000 comments.
The donkey is believed to be one of the wild burros that roam the area and is considered Moreno Valley’s unofficial mascot. Chris explains, “They come up because they want to be petted or because they want food. And they will [expletive] stop you like they’re the police.” In the video, the donkey does just this. As soon as it notices him stop the car, it makes its way over.
The donkey has no problem poking its head through for an inspection. Sadly, he informs it, “Sorry, buddy, I don’t have anything for you.” This doesn’t make the donkey leave, nor does Chris telling it he has to go. The donkey refuses to move until it receives a pet or two. Once Chris obliges with a little scratch, he’s able to drive off. This is a fun experience for him as he states, “I never pet a donkey before.” However, this does not seem like the donkey’s first time stopping a car.

Chris’s video has people ready to take the donkey home with them. Several quote a lovable Eddie Murphy character, while others choose a different creative route. One person says, “The donkeys are sightseeing the humans.” Others run with the police comparison: “License, registration, proof of insurance, and a few carrots.” Another adds, “You HAVE to pay the pet tax. It’s the law.”
Meanwhile, many scold Chris for not being more prepared for these stops, suggesting they’d carry an arsenal of treats. One commenter suggests, “Aww, Poor lil buddy!! Keep carrots in your car next time!” Several people are ready to take the donkey home with them, and desperately want to know, “Where do you live?
