Treyarch is promising some serious support for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, hoping to keep fans of every mode satisfied with their purchase. In a new blog post, publisher Activision detailed the plans that Treyarch has with post-launch support for Black Ops 4, including what content gamers can expect, targeted release dates, and how much time the “PlayStation 4 time-exclusive” material will get for PS4 owners.

First, the PS4 exclusivity. Ever since PlayStation become the official platform of Call of Duty, players on that system have gotten all DLC ahead of PC and Xbox players for a short amount of time. For Black Ops 4, that exclusivity window is one week. If you’re playing on PS4, you’ll have access to all post-launch content a week before everyone else.

Black Ops 4

However, all that post-launch content will eventually get to everyone, so let’s talk about what Black Ops 4 players can expect to see in the months following the game’s release. Here’s what you can expect to see:

  • Nuketown – Of course Call of Duty‘s most famous map is coming to Black Ops 4. A new version of Nuketown (which, hopefully, will be called something ridiculous like NIIIIketown) is coming in November.
  • New specialists – Throughout the game’s life cycle, Treyarch will add new specialists to compete in multiplayer. Players can expect the first one in December.
  • Blackout – Expect map updates, expansions, and new modes in Black Ops 4‘s take on the battle royale genre.
  • Events – Look out for different themed events, including new modes and content.

The general theme of the blog post seems to be “There’s a reason why you’re spending $60 for this game (or more, with a Special Edition)!” Treyarch states their intention to continue supporting the game with new content long after the initial launch.

Black Ops 4 is shaping up to be pretty sharp. It is scheduled for release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 12, 2018. Stan tuned for more info on the latest Call of Duty as it becomes available.
