Kojima Productions might have another Death Stranding project up its sleeve. But fans of Sam Porter Bridges and the Stranding genre might want to keep their expectations in check. After all, a recently discovered mysterious trademark filed in Japan could point to something entirely different than a simple video game.
According to Japanese trademark tracker Chizai Watch, Kojima Productions filed a trademark for a ‘DEATH STRANDING ODRADEK’ on October 19, 2026. The application was published on October 27 and seemed to cover Classes 9, 41, and 42, encompassing ‘computer game software,’ ‘headset,’ and various ‘electronic devices’ and ‘machinery.’
While Kojima Productions has only launched two main Death Stranding entries so far, another spin-off wouldn’t be out of the question. After all, the studio has been actively expanding the game’s universe, including with the upcoming Disney+ anime series Death Stranding Isolations and animated film Death Stranding: Mosquito. Kojima has also partnered with A24 for a live-action adaptation with Michael Sarnoski (A Quiet Place: Day One) as the writer and director.

Still, the trademark doesn’t necessarily mean another game or gaming-adjacent project is coming. First, we have to consider what the Odradek itself means. For those who haven’t played the game yet, Odradek Terrain Scanner is the name of the unique mechanical gadget mounted on the protagonist Sam’s shoulder. It helps him navigate terrains, locate materials and cargo, and detect supernatural BTs lurking around his delivery routes.
Given that and Odradek’s rather iconic design, Kojima Productions could simply be preparing a real-life replica of Sam’s scanner. Since the filing’s classifications offer no definitive answer so far, perhaps it could be a collectible accessory similar to the MGS V‘s iDroid case or Snake’s hand replicas.
Frankly, dropping a limited-edition, expensive piece of merchandise out of the blue wouldn’t be that surprising. Kojima Productions has a history of quickly capitalizing on its properties, ranging from selling T-shirts and hoodies to collectible toys. Yes, that even includes merchandise of its astronaut-like mascot, Ludens.
An Odradek replica would fit right into the studio’s lineup. Even if Death Stranding fans dying for another delivery might feel a bit disappointed.
