A CVS manager in Florida accused a black woman of stealing but refused to show her the store’s camera footage when she asked to see it.

The woman involved in the incident, named Kyera, went to CVS to print posters for a family night. She later browsed the makeup aisle, explaining that she had recently lost many of her belongings, including her makeup, in a house fire.

Kyera found a lipstick she wanted to purchase and headed to the checkout. However, the manager began accusing her of stealing. “So you don’t think you have anything in your pocket?” he asked, prompting her to start recording.

In the video, Kyera asked whether he wanted her to empty her pockets. He repeated, “you don’t think you have anything in your pocket?” She explained that she only had her keys in them and began taking everything out to show that she had not taken anything from the store.

Kyera then asked to speak to the manager, only for him to claim that he was the manager. Since he was accusing her of stealing, she demanded to see the surveillance footage. However, he refused, telling her, “I mean, I ain’t gotta show you anything.”

Kyera then asked for his name and learned that he was Hunter. She responded with “wow” at the situation, but he mocked her by replying, “Yeah, wow.” She asked once again to see the footage, but he continued refusing. Hunter also told her that a report would be filed against her, despite her showing that she had not taken anything. “Please,” she replied.

Kyera described the situation as “crazy,” but Hunter insisted that his behavior was simply being “genuine.” She asked whether he had actually seen her put something in her pocket, and he claimed that he had. “Looks like it,” he said. However, he could not identify what he believed she had taken, only saying that it was some kind of makeup.

Kyera then showed him that the only item she had picked up was a lipstick, which was already in the bag she intended to pay for before the confrontation. Hunter continued arguing that she had taken a powder product, prompting her to respond, “That’s insane.” He then told her he hoped she would have a good day, but Kyera replied that she hoped he would have the day he deserved. “Hell yeah,” he responded.

What Happened Next

Kyera eventually decided to leave the store without buying anything. As she walked out, Hunter repeated that they would be filing a report against her. “I hope your tags aren’t covered,” he told her.

In the caption accompanying the video, Kyera explained how the confrontation had affected her. “I asked to see the footage, and he refused. For the next two minutes, he stood there accusing and belittling me in front of customers, making me feel lower than I’ve ever felt. As I walked out, trying to hold myself together and not react, he made another remark about hoping my tag wasn’t covered because a report was being made and they’d need to identify me.”

She also described the emotional toll of the encounter, writing, “I left the store carrying more than a lipstick. I left carrying the humiliation of being accused of something I hadn’t done, the shock of being treated that way, and the utter sadness of finally starting to rebuild, only to be kicked down again.”

Returning to the Store Again

After the confrontation, Kyera told her husband what had happened. He then decided to accompany her back to CVS to retrieve the posters she had purchased for her family’s murder mystery night. In a second video, Kyera showed her husband asking Hunter why he had refused to show her the surveillance footage. “I don’t have to present anything,” the manager replied.

“I just asked her a simple question,” Hunter said before telling Kyera’s husband, “You don’t have to be here either.” The video continued with the two arguing, during which Kyera’s husband told the manager, “I’m showing you how stupid you were being.” Hunter responded by criticizing his use of “colorful language.”

The video ended with Kyera’s husband telling Hunter, “For a manager, you are doing a very poor job.” In the caption, Kyera expressed her frustration with the manager’s response, writing, “No apologies, no accountability. He claimed my items were not in ‘his’ store.”

She also described how deeply the incident had affected her, adding, “The entire situation has been incredibly traumatizing. I went into CVS to rebuild what I lost in an apartment fire, and instead, I was made to feel like a criminal. No one deserves to be treated this way, and this is NOT okay.” It remains unclear whether CVS will address the incident.

Viewers Slam Florida CVS Manager Over Serious Accusation

Many viewers online criticized the Florida CVS manager over his accusations against Kyera, with some believing that his behavior was racially motivated. “He was 100% being racist,” one person wrote. Another commented, “‘I ain’t gotta show you anything’ literally could feel the racism through the screen at you. I hope they fire him, gross.” Kyera agreed with the criticism, responding, “That’s allll I felt . The store was filled with white men shopping, then there was me . Being accused of stealing makeup that wasn’t even my shade.”

Other viewers continued criticizing Hunter’s behavior, with some questioning his conduct and urging Kyera to take the matter to CVS corporate. “Legally he’s not allowed to ask you that,” one person claimed. Another wrote, “Call & speak to a human at corporate about this – I’m not even playing girl. Do not stop. Do not accept this. Get him fired.” Someone else also criticized the manager’s attitude, adding, “Here’s my thing, he kept it going. Very condescending. Very unprofessional. Keep escalating that because idk who he thought he was. But he’s about to cost CVS some major bucks acting like that.”

The incident raised concerns about the need for store managers to have clear evidence before accusing customers of theft. It also led viewers to question whether racial bias may have played a role in how Kyera was treated, highlighting the impact that such accusations can have on people who are simply trying to shop.
