According to TMZ, Stan Lee, co-creator of Marvel Comics, has passed away at the age of 95.

From what the site was told, an ambulance was rushed to Lee’s home in Hollywood Hills early Monday morning and he was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The cause of his death is still unknown at this time. Lee is survived by his daughter, J.C. Lee.

J.C. told TMZ that:

“My father loved all of his fans. He was the greatest, most decent man.”

In February, Stan Lee was admitted to the hospital for an irregular heartbeat and had battled multiple health issues since. Due to those issues, Lee made the decision to stop attending public signings or conventions.

Stan Lee was a co-creator for many of Marvel’s most iconic characters including The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Daredevil, and Spider-Man. Lee also had a part in over 30 Marvel films, including every installment of the MCU. Earlier this year, Stan Lee was inducted into the Science-Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame for the Museum of Pop Culture.

Lee’s late-wife Joan passed away last year at the age of 93. The two had been married for 69 years. When asked about his wife, Stan would say:

“She was the girl I had been drawing all my life,”

It’s safe to say that Stan Lee is the main reason why a lot of us love this industry. His legacy lives on today and will continue to live on through the legendary characters he either created or had a major impact in developing. Without his involvement, we wouldn’t have many of our favorite comic book characters or the amazing juggernaut that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Lee’s final movie appearances are expected to be with Captain Marvel and Avengers 4.
