In honor of the 25th anniversary of the first publication of Hellboy, and the release of the upcoming movie, Dark Horse Comics is teaming up with brewing company Gigantic Brewing. Later this year fans will be able to try six new flavors named after characters within the Hellboy universe.
How many cases are they devoting to the comic book character? 666 cases to be exact.
All told, Gigantic Brewing will release six different Hellboy beers, with flavors inspired by fan-favorite characters from the Hellboy comic books. Each new beer will be a limited edition run of 666 cases and will be released approximately every seven weeks.”
Gigantic Brewing and Dark Horse will be brewing the six beers each with their own different flavor. The beers will be released in order with names of the characters included within the world of Big Red. Those names include Hellboy, Liz Sherman, Johann Kraus, Abe Sapien, Blood Queen, and Trevor Bruttenholm. The six types of beer include flavors like maple syrup pancake, mole chili stout, indigo blue fruit ale, cranberry yuzu sour, British barleywine, and citrus with beer.

Gigantic Brewing’s first Hellboy beer will be released in March, ahead of Hellboy Day on March 23, 2019, when comic book stores and fans across the country will celebrate twenty-five years of Hellboy comics and graphic novels.”
Fans who are planning to attend Seattle’s Emerald City Comic Con will get a taste early on March 15th. However, the location is currently being held secret and will be announced March first according to Gigantic Brewing’s website.
Hellboy beer will subsequently be available in select locations across the US. Gigantic Brewing will also be selling prints and t-shirts featuring new Mike Mignola’s illustrations for each of the six Hellboy beers.”
Hellboy made his first appearance in Dime Press #4 in March of 1993. Each bottle will include art by Hellboy creator, Mike Mignola as well.
