The Orville, Foxโ€™s hit show from Seth MacFarlane, is about to get the comic book treatment. Season 1.5, as itโ€™s called, will consist of two, two-issue story arcs set between the first and second seasons.

Artist David Cabeza and colorist Michael Atiyeh will be the creative force behind the four books. Together with David A. Gordon, the team will further expand the established universe. Goodman is no stranger to the sci-fi world, having previously produced Futurama and Star Trek: Enterprise.

The Orville

The first โ€œepisodeโ€ will be The Orville #1: New Beginnings Part 1 (of 2). According to the release, in the premiere chapter, โ€œOn their way to a fleet conference, Ed and Gordon investigate a distress signal from a century-old buoy belonging to a Union ship. Back on the ship, Kelly tries to mediate when Bortus insists on enrolling Topa into school despite him being only a few months old.โ€

The second comic story arc will start with The Orville #3: The World of Avis Part 1 (of 2), and centers on the big bad Krill. โ€œThe Orville intercept a small Union ship en route to the interstellar territory of the easily aggravated Krill. The passengers, originally thought to be a group of xenoanthropologists, turn out to be much, much more interesting and dangerous than the crew of the Orville couldโ€™ve imagined.โ€

The Orville

The second season of hit series launched on December 30thย and has enjoyed continued success. Essentially Seth MacFarlane’s love letter to Star Trek, The Orville takes place 400 years in Earth’s future. MacFarlaneโ€™s Captain Mercer and his crew explore the galaxy on the U.S.S. Orville, going from one adventure to another.

The cast also includes Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, Halston Sage, J Lee, Mark Jackson, Chad L. Coleman, and Jessica Szohr. Fans of the show can check out the premiere issue of the comic on July 17th. New episodes air on Thursdays at 9 PM ET on FOX.
