A shocking scene unfolded in Washington involving a child and an adult driver who nearly ran him over. The incident went viral in a short Reddit clip, where the child was seen riding an electric bike close to the curb as the woman attempted to hit him. The kid was quick to escape and climbed onto the sidewalk to be safe. The driver, however, veered onto the sidewalk and began chasing the child down the road at high speed.
According to coverage from KXLY, the driver was a 56-year-old woman identified as Wendy A. Clement, who is now facing multiple charges after allegedly attempting to hit the young cyclist and later trying to enter a stranger’s home while under the influence, as reported by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. She was arrested following two incidents that occurred within 25 minutes of each other. She was subsequently booked on charges of attempted first-degree assault, DUI, and first-degree criminal trespass.
The complaint related to the child incident was reported to deputies by a homeowner who observed, through his security system, a suspect trying door handles. Deputies later found Clement and her vehicle in the victim’s driveway and placed her under arrest. When questioned, Clement said she had been looking for dogs for her pet to socialize with and noticed the victim’s dogs, but was denied entrance into the residence, according to deputies. Although she initially denied drinking, she later admitted to consuming alcohol. She also resisted arrest and attempted to kick a deputy.
