Apex Legends, the newest of the battle royale genre, doesn’t have players returning to it. Why you may ask? Well, according to some new data pulled from Stream Elements, the game is slowly losing streamers to other battle royale games. Top streamers are now going back to playing Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds. When Apex Legends first released, Fortnite streams were down and it did look like the newest entry into the genre was going to kill it off.

When Apex Legends first arrived, it was unexpected. The arrival of a new, free-to-play, battle royale game published by EA. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. But, shockingly, Apex Legends had an impressive amount of big name streamers such as Ninja and DrDisrespect playing the new game. Many of these top streamers from Twitch were given some good chunk of change from EA to play and advertise the game. The hours watched and the number of streamers playing Apex Legends was well above Fortnite. Now that has all changed. Streamers are leaving Apex to go back to Fortnite.

Some causes of this sudden shift could be due to Apex Legends first season pass not living up to expectations. Apex Legends’ season pass, much like with Fortnite and PUBG’s versions, had players wanting more.

With Epic Games’ Fortnite once again partnering up with Marvel for their Thanos crossover event April 25th, it’s unlikely that we’ll see Apex Legends beating out Fortnite in popularity anytime soon.

What do you think could be the reasoning behind this steady decline of streamers on Apex Legends? Are you still enjoying the game? Or have you lost interest and switched back to PUBG or Fortnite?
