Better Call Saul could wrap things up with season six. According to Venerable actor Giancarlo Esposito, the Breaking Bad prequel series has another two seasons to tell the story.
Currently four seasons in, Better Call Saul has proven to be another hit from writer/producer Vince Gilligan. Spun-off from the multi-award-winning series Breaking Bad, Saul has been a ratings hit for AMC since the beginning.
Esposito, who plays the Notorious Gus Fring stated in an interview with Collider that “In telling the story it’s always difficult to find the ending of what’s supposed to be, but then there’s another ending of what could or what you imagine things could be once the ending has concluded. The actor goes on to say, “there will be six seasons, that seems the comfortable way to end the show.”
Better Call Saul was renewed for a fifth season before the fourth season even premiered. There is no official sixth season renewal as of yet. AMC looks to be giving Gilligan the room he needs to complete the story. At the moment there’s certainly a lot of stories to tell.
Fans of the show have seen Odenkirk’s Jimmy McGill slowly morph into titular Saul Goodman. We all know what happens to the shady lawyer from Breaking Bad. It’s been Saul’s journey that’s been fascinating. From Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), to Espositos’s Fring, everything is heating up at a rapid pace.
News recently broke that a Breaking Bad movie centered on Jessy Pinkman (Aaron Paul) is also in the works. Nothing is known about the ending to Better Call Saul. It is possible there will be a direct link to the movie. Whether or not everyone’s favorite chemistry teacher shows up is another matter altogether.
Better Call Saul won’t be back until 2020, so now’s a good time to catch up on all you’ve missed.
