For a limited time, the popular game Fortnite has a special mode that is themed for Avengers: Endgame. The ultra-successful MCU franchise came to somewhat of a close this weekend as the final Avengers movie came to theaters, ending the story arcs for many characters and featuring Thanos as the primary villain. Building off of the hype, Fortnite is featuring some fun fights and items for fans of both the game and the movie.
Thanos and his army of Chitauri are invading the Fortnite Battle Royal island to search for the six Infinity Stones. Players get a chance to acquire special Avengers items that are hidden throughout the map to face this threat. There will be special challenges resulting in free rewards, such as Sprays, Banners, and the Avengers Quinjet Glider – based off the ship belonging to the Guardians of the Galaxy.
There is also new Avengers themed sets in the Fortnite store. The first revolves around Black Widow and contains her outfit, plus Widow’s Pack, Widow’s Bite Pickaxe, and Widow’s Pirouette Emote. The second Outfit will arrive next week, but so far the details are a surprise.
There are multiple options for players regarding this Limited Time Mode plotline. A squad can acquire powerful Avengers items and challenge Thanos to battle. There is also a time challenge given that Thanos and his army are searching for the Infinity Stones and players want to stop him before he gets all six. If he does get all six to complete the Infinity Gauntlet, will players survive the Snap?
This is a fun crossover that could draw fans of just the movie to try out Fortnite for the first time. There are no details on exactly how long this Limited Time Mode will be available, but if players have the Time Stone, perhaps they can just start the Mode over and play as often as they like.
