Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre are some amazing games, as anyone who has played them are sure to agree. And this definitely extends to the game’s soundtracks. Composer Darren Korb of Supergiant Games created some truly legendary music for these titles. In addition, we can’t leave out the fantastic vocal work by Ashley Barrett. In fact, I still have the original soundtrack for Bastion in my workday playlist. I’m even listening to the Transistor album while I write this. His ability to create high-quality tunes across multiple genres has made these works fan favorites.
And that is why it’s very exciting that the people over at Materia Collective have released a new tribute album celebrating Supergiant Games. The album is titled EXILE: A Tribute to Supergiant Games. And featuring a whopping 49 tracks. That’s a ton of music. To clarify, most of the albums we report on here have less than 20 tracks. This is a huge collaborative project with contributions from dozens of extremely talented groups and individuals, making it easily one of the biggest albums we’ve seen from Materia Collective. But don’t take my word for it. Listen to this amazing album for yourself.
If you like what you hear then I encourage you to drop the $14 for the full digital album at one of the various storefronts. This is some truly inspiring stuff. And the people behind it deserve the money. I mean it’s not every album that gives you stuff from big band, acapella, cosmic space rock, ’90s grunge, string quartets, brass quintets, and hard rock. So there is something for everyone here. I imagine fans of these games are probably ecstatic over this. And if you have never played any of these games and missed the privilege of hearing these soundtracks, then I recommended for you to immediately change that. You won’t regret the time spent.
