JoJo Siwa‘s rebrand has caused quite a stir online. After dressing in sparkly rainbow attire for years, the 20-year-old shocked fans by debuting a new look reminiscent of KISS. Although not everyone is on board with her latest fashion, Siwa’s former dance teacher, Abby Lee Miller, loves it. In a recent TikTok, Miller had nothing but kind words to say about her Dance Moms co-star.
What Does Abby Lee Miller Think About JoJo Siwa’s Rebrand?
On Friday, April 5, Miller shared her live reaction to Siwa’s music video for “Karma.” The track marks Siwa’s first single in four years and the Nickelodeon alum’s departure from her kid-friendly music. Throughout the song, Siwa tries to break free from her innocent image by singing about more mature topics like love and heartbreak. During the lyrics, she also uses explicit language and calls herself a “bad girl” and “wild child.”
To go along with her new sound, Siwa debuted a shocking new look in her “Karma” music video. Instead of wearing her signature rainbow fashion and sparkly hair bows, she’s dressed in an all-black sequined bodysuit. Siwa is also seen donning heavy eye makeup, which many compared to the rock band KISS.
While not everyone is a fan of JoJo Siwa’s rebrand, Miller totally gets it. She thought the “Karma” music video was “absolutely amazing.” She even defended Siwa’s new look by admitting she didn’t get why her rebranding was such a “big deal” to everyone.
It used to be stars and rainbows and pink and lavender and turquoise, and now it’s black. It’s still paint on her face and it’s still her doing incredible dancing, so I don’t know if it’s so much as a rebranding or just maturing, getting older [and] wanting to show another side of her.
