ABC has officially announced that A Million Little Things, one of the channel’s most popular drama series, will be ending with its upcoming fifth season. The series’ creators, which include executive producers DJ Nash, Terrence Coli, and Aaron Kaplan, have gone on record stating that the final season was written with the intent of it being the last, which will hopefully give fans a satisfying ending to the drama-packed show.
Premiering on ABC in 2018, A Million Little Things tells the story of Eddie (David Giuntoli), Rome (Romany Malco), Maggie (Allison Miller), Regina (Christina Moses), Katherine (Grace Park), and Gary (James Roday Rodriguez) and Jon as a ragtag group of unlikely friends who first met after being stuck in an elevator by chance. A decade after their first meeting, the friends have become distant from one another. Still, after Jon (Ron Livingston) unexpectedly commits suicide, the group finds themselves pulled back together as they try to find a reason for Jon’s death and resolve to be there for one other, for better or worse.
‘A Million Little Things’ Season 5 Will Be the Final Season
Seasons 2-4 of A Million Little Things saw the friends and their families grow and change as new babies were born, children were adopted, affairs were formed, and marriages were broken. However, with the announcement that the show would be renewed for a fifth season also comes the news that the series will conclude after the upcoming season.
Thankfully, according to Entertainment Weekly, the show seems to be going out on its own terms, with the series cast even recording a video for the show’s fans – known as “Millionaires” – and stating that “now feels like the right time to say goodbye.”
Regarding the show’s cancellation with A Million Little Things season 5, show creator and executive producer DJ Nash told Deadline the following:
“I know seeing this show end may be sad for many people (especially my mom who watches live every week), but I always knew I wanted to follow these friends for 5 seasons and leave them when the time was right. I am both honored and humbled by all of it and am so in awe of the incredible actors, writers, directors and crew who lend their talent to make our show…Terrence and I can’t wait for the Millionaires to watch what we have planned for our final season.”
A Million Little Things on ABC is executive produced by DJ Nash, Terrence Coli, Aaron Kaplan, and Brian Morewitz, along with co-executive producer Joanna Kerns on behalf of ABC Signature and Kaplan Entertainment. The series is currently available to stream on Hulu and ABC, and season 5 of A Million Little Things will be released on February 8th, 2023.
