The Activision Blizzard acquisition by Microsoft appears to finally be going through after a long, arduous process breaking through federal and international red tape, and the roadmap for titles coming to Game Pass is finally being more heavily discussed. Fans have been highly anticipating the arrival of popular Activision Blizzard games on Game Pass once the buyout went through, and now the company has more definitively stated when players can expect this to happen.
Activision Blizzard on Game Pass
For a long while, everything seemed very uncertain when it came to the future of Activision Blizzard. Fears of games industry monopolization mixed with the expected amount of Sony interference led to Microsoft fighting waves of issues over its attempts to acquire the major game developer and publisher. It seems as though Microsoft is coming out on the other side, though, and at this point, the Activision Blizzard acquisition is all but certain. The company’s legendary catalog arriving on Xbox Game Pass is the next major event on the docket for many gamers.
The official X (Twitter) account of Activision Blizzard recently put a statement out concerning its catalog arriving on Xbox Game Pass. To the chagrin of some potentially over-excited Xbox fans, it appears as though AB’s newest titles, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Diablo 4, will not be coming to Xbox Game Pass this year. The reason for this primarily being that the acquisition deal remains unfinalized. There’s no chance of Activision Blizzard jumping the gun and putting any of its games on Game Pass early.
The company does seem hopeful at the possibility of its games coming to Game Pass in 2024, however. This would be a massive deal for the value of the Xbox Game Pass. If the entire franchise of Call of Duty alongside games like Diablo 4 were suddenly dropped on the platform, it would be an absolute game changer and a major incentive for Xbox and PC gamers alike.
