AGDQ, the biggest gaming charity event has kicked off in a messy fashion.
Starting with Nintendo’s latest new IP, Splatoon, Awesome Games Done Quick 2016 has begun their bi-yearly campaign of raising money for a variety of charities through a series a video game marathons. Featuring the most skilled, and high-leveled speedrunners in the gaming community, finishing popular video games in extremely rapid fashion.
Players finish games such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Town in a mere 17 minutes, a feat that would normally take dozens of hours to complete. This is done through a series of glitches and bugs manipulated to bypass certain portions of the game. Additionally, there are some players that will speedrun games to 100% completion, such as last years 9 hour run of Chrono Trigger.
Big headliners for this year’s event feature big titles such as Bloodborne, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD, Final Fantasy IV and Metroid Fusion.
The first AGDQ of the year will run from January 3-9th. A complete breakdown of the week’s schedule can be found at the official AGDQ website.
