An Alabama man sparked outrage online after a video circulated showing him making a series of inflammatory remarks about Austin Metcalf.
The Karmelo Anthony case has received significant attention online. Following recent developments in the Karmelo Anthony case, tensions increased on social media as users debated whether the verdict was appropriate. Some supporters of Anthony began circulating videos criticizing Austin Metcalf and his family, and some social media posts did as well, contributing to an increasingly heated online debate surrounding the case.
A similar video was shared by a man who expressed support for Anthony and launched into a rant directed at Austin Metcalf. In the clip, he says, “[expletive] Austin,” before using a racial slur. He then continues, “I’m mad as a [expletive]. Free Karmelo.”
The rhetoric in the video grew increasingly disturbing as the man went on to make a series of remarks that many viewers interpreted as celebrating Metcalf’s death. He also made additional statements that appeared to suggest the violence Metcalf suffered was not punishment enough, saying it was a “good thing” that he was dead. He then went on to make disturbing remarks suggesting he should be dug up from the grave, beaten, and then stabbed again. He then stated that he did not care about potential backlash for his comments, adding, “I don’t give a [expletive]. I don’t care how much backlash I get.”
The man also made comments about race and the criminal justice system while continuing to criticize Metcalf and his family, saying that he hoped Metcalf was “burning” in hell.
Viewers Outraged After Alabama Man Attacks Austin Metcalf
The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers expressed outrage over the Alabama man’s comments about Austin Metcalf. “Our country is cooked,” one person wrote. Another said, “Yeah, because hurting the family when they’ve already lost their son, and TWIN BROTHER (my god, I can’t even imagine the pain), is a reasonable thing to do. [Expletive] IDIOT.”
More viewers also expressed outrage and tied their reactions back to the broader debate surrounding the case. “They’re mad that he’s receiving consequences for it. That’s it. They believe that no matter what the action is, as long as it’s against a white person, it should only be viewed as being fair,” one person wrote. Another commented, “People never cease to amaze me how pathetic and stupid they really can be thinking the way they do. [Expletive] wild, yet these same losers wouldn’t go after the politicians and corrupt companies and judges and actual people who do the harm they do…. Instead you have this.”
The video added another layer to the already heated online debate surrounding the Karmelo Anthony case, with many viewers arguing that no matter where someone stands on the verdict, targeting or harassing the family of a victim has no place in that conversation.
