A man in Greenville, South Carolina, decided that he wanted to try one of the darkest windshield tint combinations ever. As a result, he could barely see outside during the day, and driving at night was a borderline blind endeavor.
Omar, who goes by omareonn and fvromar online, shared his windshield experiment online. He is a car content creator who often features his Tesla. The clip attached above went viral, garnering 3.4 million views, 307,300 likes, and more than 3,000 comments in just a few days.
The South Carolina man said he chose a double 5% tint combination for his vehicle glass. That means Omar stacked two layers of 5% window film on top of each other, which lets through less than 0.25% of light. And the Tesla showed exactly that.
‘I’m Cooked’
Omar filmed the car’s windshield and could see the cloudy sky through it. The inside of the car was impossible to see, and he quickly noticed when he tried to look through the driver’s window.
“You can’t see anything through here. Like, this is open, and you still can’t even see. It’s just a weird reflection,” he said.
In a follow-up clip, Omar showed how the windshield tint looked at night, at one viewer’s request. The video is nearly pitch-black, except for a not-very-bright Tesla touchscreen.
He immediately acknowledged that picking a double 5% tint combo was not the way to go, as he said he couldn’t see the street or the cars driving on it. His only solution was to use the Tesla’s front cameras for guidance.
“I’m cooked,” the South Carolina man said. “I wouldn’t recommend this [expletive] at all.”

Many viewers reacted similarly to Omar, shocked by how dark his windshield was. One said, “You’ll be regretting that one.” Another one commented, “A rainy night is bros worst enemy.”
Others believed such tint could land him in trouble. One wrote, “You going to jail.” Another one added, “Tickets of a lifetime.”
In a second follow-up, Omar showed his daytime point of view while driving the Tesla. The difference was pretty noticeable, and it is unclear if he will change the double 5% windshield tint after his nighttime experience.
