Back in August, it was revealed that Disney’s Aladdin and The Lion King video game bundle would release on modern consoles. Safe to say, I was excited. Today, that excitement has been dialed up a notch or two thanks to the announcement of some special editions.

The retro edition will see each game presented in the original-style packaging. These editions come with an exclusive poster, a retro-style manual and all the great stuff that’s already been announced. Unfortunately, these retro editions are only coming to the Switch.

The good news, you can pre-order from Best Buy tomorrow.

The Lion King

Next up, we have the pièce de résistance, the legacy cartridges. At first look on the site, it seemed that these had sold out. I wrote a number of paragraphs detailing this. They were filled with laughter, tears, and all sorts of jokes. Quite frankly, those words would have changed your life, but alas they were not to be.

Thankfully though, this still means you can pre-order the games if you are quick. Pre-orders go live at 10 am PDT on October 24th. Iam8bit has announced a legacy cartridge for both The Lion King and Aladdin. These two beauties are reproduced versions of the original games that will be playable on the original consoles.

Aladdin

Isn’t that just a thing of beauty? I won’t go into details about the range of colors they come in or any of the other amazing details (which you can find here) because we’ll all probably miss out on the pre-orders. I’ll cry, you’ll cry, and nobody will have a very good time. There’s always eBay I guess, or I could just buy the original cartridges instead.

The bundled games, titled Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King, will be available at $29.99 on October 29th, 2019. You can play it on Xbox One, PS4, Windows PC, and the Nintendo Switch.

Whatever edition you decide to buy, both games are great and a welcome piece of nostalgia. They can be unforgiving but I’m looking forward to replaying them.

Let us know in the comments what version you plan to buy and if you manage to get hold of one of the legacy cartridges, be sure to let us know. As they say in Aladdin, you ain’t never had a friend like me.
