All Genshin Impact Elements, Ranked

The perfect blend of elements.

This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

One of the main features of Genshin Impact‘s gameplay is the different elements of its characters. Even though this is an action RPG, it is similar to having husbandos and waifus fighting against enemies as if they were Pokemon. Genshin Impact adds a bit of physics to mixing the elements and creating reactions. The different mixtures of elements and their reactions affect the targets in various ways, but are there any better than others?

Top Genshin Impact Elements: Geo

Don’t get us wrong, this element certainly has its strengths. Among them, it has great characters like Zhongli, Itto, and, most recently, Navia. However, its characters alone cannot maintain this element in the top 1. For some time now, the players believe Geo urgently needs a redesign. At the moment, the Geo element can provide a shield thanks to the Crystalize reactions, but these are not strong enough and do not last that long.

We must admit that mono-geo team compositions are extremely handy in The Abyss, especially against Rifthounds. You can have a good team with only 4-star characters like Ningguang as DPS, along with Gorou and Yun Jin as support.

6. Cryo

One of the most used reactions before 3.0 was Permafrost until the arrival of the Dendro element. Permafrost, without a doubt, is very useful in the game as it can freeze enemies as long as the player keeps applying Cryo and Hydro. Melt, a reaction of Cryo and Pyro, also causes a lot of damage to frozen enemies. However, this element remains frozen before Dendro, translating to many changes for the rest of the elemental reactions.

5. Pyro

The fire element is very flexible and has adapted to new compositions. As mentioned, Pyro is very effective at dealing damage with Melt reactions and Vaporize as both multiply damage from x1.5 to x2. However, for the latest updates, Pyro excels more with Burning and Burgeon. Be careful when fighting near the grass or when in multiplayer because the fire can spread more than you think, and you will end up burned.

4. Anemo

The rise of this element is because a large percentage of the fan community loves it because of the Anemo boys. In reality, Anemo is also a flexible element; it is not the best in terms of damage. The wind will be on your side when doing Swirl reactions. It will cause elemental resistance from enemies and can cause secondary reactions. Keep in mind that Swirl will always prioritize the Pyro element. However, Anemo characters are the best to explore, as some can jump really high or even fly.

3. Electro

This element should be in the first place just for the Raiden Shogun because of its electrifying… attributes. Although speaking only about the element, it is one of my favorites for my teams because of all the reactions it can unleash, such as Electro-Charged, Spread, and Aggravate. I usually opt for characters with off-field skills, but there are some great Electro DPS who can adapt to your party.

2. Hydro

The element of water is the second best element in Genshin Impact due to the extraordinary ability of its characters to flow according to the circumstances. Some of the best healers and Sub-DPS are of the Hydro element, like Kokomi or Xingqiu, but there are also powerful DPS like Ayato or Childe. Hydro and Cryo have always stood out as an element at the beginning of the game. However, this changed when the Sumeru nation attacked Genshin Impact, making the Bloom and Hyperbloom reactions one of the strongest.

1. Dendro

Dendro is the king of the elements, at least since its release in Version 3.0. Although the arrival of Dendro characters took almost three years, it was a breath of fresh air for gameplay, kit, and designs. Along with Fontaine and innovative character kits like Furina or Neuvilllette, Dendro was only affected for the better. This element is here to stay and will remain the best for quite a long time.

Remember that in Genshin Impact, the damage of your team compositions or characters depends more on their builds and not so much on the element or their reactions. The most important thing is that you have fun playing with your favorite husbandos and waifus while filling your pockets with Primogems.
