If there’s one lesson I’ve learned from playing Buckshot Roulette, it’s always bet against the Dealer. It easily wins you the first match, but once the second match comes around, you need to be clever about how you use all the items in Buckshot Roulette. If you were to use each one at a whim, he’ll win for sure. That’s why it’s important to get familiar with each item and how to best utilize them.

Beer
Too much of this will kill you, but in Buckshot Roulette a can of beer “racks” the shotgun. In other words, it lets you pump the shotgun’s current active shell. This is usually a big help in narrowing down the chances of your outcome. For example, if there are three shells left—one live shell and two blanks—and a blank is ejected, you now have a 50% chance of shooting the Dealer.
It may be tempting to use beer as soon as possible, but I suggest using it with the switchblade as a combo strategy. If your odds are good, the next shell is live; you can deal double damage by using the switchblade beforehand.
Cigarettes
Again, another item in Buckshot Roulette that kills you slowly, but it’s a godsend in the game. With just a puff, you’ll regain a single sliver of health, so it’s pretty handy for staving off death if you took a single round from the shotgun.
One thing to note about cigarettes is that they never heal you beyond what you started with. If you started off with three health, then that’s your maximum.
Handcuffs
Another great item to use in combo attacks, especially if you have a switchblade, beer, or magnifying glass. If you use the handcuffs, you’ll prevent the Dealer from taking their next turn. Using these can win you rounds!
One strategy I use often is using a magnifying glass to reveal the nature of the shell. If it’s a live round, out come the handcuffs. I know I’ll get at least one hit to the Dealer, but on my next turn, it could potentially be two.
Switchblade
When used at the most opportune time, the switchblade can turn the tides in your favor. By sawing off the end, you’ll deal two ticks of damage as opposed to one. It only applies to a single shot, then the barrel regrows.
I’d hold onto switchblades for as long as you can, at least until you can use it alongside something else, like handcuffs, or you know there’s a live round and the Dealer will die, anyway.
Magnifying Glass
The magnifying glass shares a similar function to beer, except it doesn’t eject a shell, but instead reveals the nature of it. There’s never a bad time to use the magnifying glass unless, say, there’s a single shell left. However, there is an efficient way of using it.
For example, if you use the magnifying glass and reveal the shell is blank, use the gun on yourself. You’ll get an extra turnout of it, plus the opportunity to push the odds in your favor with handcuffs or using a switchblade.
All Items in Buckshot Roulette: Double or Nothing
Now, the full release of Buckshot Roulette has a few extra items you can get—just four—but they only appear during Double or Nothing. It’s a gamemode you can participate in by downing the pills on the counter in the bathroom.
- Adrenaline: You move so fast you take an item from the Dealer and use it immediately.
- Inverter: Swaps the polarity of the current shell; if it was a live round, it’s now a blank and vice versa.
- Expired Medicine: Using this has a 40% of healing you for two ticks of damage or a 60% chance of hurting you for a tick of damage.
- Burner Phone: The person on the phone tells you the position of a single shell and whether it’s live or a blank. For example, the second shell is live.
