Mantles are tools that can give you a variety of unique buffs when worn in Monster Hunter World, from Blight immunities and dropping bonus Trade-in Items to giving you super armor from monsters’ attacks. The first Mantle you’ll get is Ghillie, and you’ll be able to unlock up to 17 different ones as you play the game. Most are obtained from Optional Quests, but some rarer ones are acquired from Deliveries side quests.

The Best Mantles to Use in Monster Hunter World
Without any shadow of a doubt, Temporal and Rocksteady Mantles are the best Mantles in Monster Hunter World. Especially Temporal Mantle before the Iceborne nerf; it saved my skin a lot when fighting Arch-Tempered Nergigante. If you’re a Gunlancer, Charged Long with Rocksteady and Health Regen Augment is the most brain-dead playstyle you’ll ever learn. Don’t forget to stab their legs or head for Elder Dragons like Kushala, with Wyvernstake Blast first for maximum cheese. Nevertheless, other Mantles still have their niche purposes as well.
For example, carrying both Waterproof and Rocksteady Mantles is a good way to deal with Namielle’s wave attacks. Ghillie Mantle is extremely useful for Egg Quests or when you’re farming items or gathering points. Wear the Mantle to make sure big or small monsters won’t get in your way. It can be alternated with Assassin’s Hood so you can run around faster, too.
Speedrunners often use Glider or any Mantle with the longest duration to squeeze in damage buffs from Decoration slots. But as a casual player, I like to slot them with Tool Specialist instead. That way, when you’re using one Mantle, you’ll recharge the other Mantle or Booster faster.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
