Mysterious Shards are one of the many collectibles in Assassin’s Creed Mirage and as their name implies, the shards are, well, mysterious. Acquired by either pickpocketing or killing members of the Order of the Ancients – or Tha’abeen – these shards are scattered around the city of Baghdad and its surrounding wilderness, usually on a moving target. Unlike many of the other treasures in AC Mirage, you can’t buy a map showing their location. However, once you’ve tracked down enough of the mysterious shards, you can turn them in for powerful, high-level gear.
How Do I Get and Use Mysterious Shards in AC Mirage?
After killing your first Order member a few hours into Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you’ll receive a quest to visit your old friend Nehal, who then gives you a lead on how to find a hidden oasis north of the ‘Aqarquf Dunes. Once you do so, you’ll be in a chamber with three pieces of high-level gear locked behind a force field. The mysterious shards act like keys for these forcefields, and each item is unlocked with a different number of shards.
Two mysterious shards unlock the Samsaama, a dagger with 27 damage and 47 defense damage. It comes fully upgraded with the “Life Steal” perk, where every fifth hit heals Basim for 10% of his health.
Three mysterious shards unlock the Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar, a sword with 46 damage and 78 defense damage. Like the dagger, it comes fully upgraded with the “Blood Price” perk, where Basim’s max health is reduced by 50% but his damage is increased by the same amount.
Five mysterious shards unlock Milad’s Outfit, a fully upgraded set of Isu armor with the “Forgotten Terror” perk, where successful Air Assassinations set off a flash of lightning that disorients bystanders within a 15-meter radius.
All Mysterious Shard Locations in Assassin’s Creed Mirage
There are ten mysterious shards to be found in and around Baghdad, with two in each district and the Wilderness. Be on the lookout for the Order members in black robes, usually with at least one bodyguard. As you approach, Basim will comment on how the person seems suspicious and he should investigate.
Mysterious Shard #1 – Harbiyah
This mysterious shard can be found on a Tha’abeen in Harbiyah, south of the Dyeing Factory and walking a path between the factory and the Upper Harbor.
Mysterious Shard #2 – Harbiyah
The second mysterious shard in Harbiyah can be found on an Order member crossing the bridge into the Soap Boiler’s District as they trace a path between the Soap Boiler’s District and the Great Mosque.
Mysterious Shard #3 – Abbasiyah
The next mysterious shard can be found on an Order member in Abbasiyah, walking back and forth between the Observatory and the House of Wisdom. They have no bodyguard and are a particularly easy target for assassination or pickpocketing.
Mysterious Shard #4 – Abbasiyah
This mysterious shard can be found on an Order member north of the Dome of the Ass, walking a path between Kufa Gate and the Hammam.
Mysterious Shard #5 – Karkh
The mysterious shard can be found on an Order member in Karkh, in southern Baghdad and southwest of the Karkh Hidden Ones’ Bureau. The Tha’abeen and their bodyguard are usually walking a path between the Pomegranate Gate and the Bazaar.
Mysterious Shard #6 – Karkh
The next shard can also be found in Karkh. This order member wanders from the water near Qasir Salih, past the Officer’s Club and Cookmen’s Quarter, and to the Qadi District Office and Basra Gate. This Tha’abeen has no bodyguard, but the busy city streets can make taking them out tricky.
Mysterious Shard #7 – Round City
Both of the mysterious shards in the Round City can be a little tricky to obtain, since this area of the city is meant for the rank of Assassin, but they’re not impossible if you know where to look. One of the mysterious shards can be found on an Order member in the Residential District, west of Basra Gate.
Mysterious Shard #8 – Round City
The second mysterious shard in the Round City can be found on an Order member near the Damascus Gate, wandering the Administrative District between the gate and the Postal Bureau.
Mysterious Shard #9 – Anbar
The last two mysterious shards are in the wilderness, though they’re both located in villages. One of the remaining shards can be found in Anbar, on an Order member crossing the bridge that connects to the western portion of the village.
Mysterious Shard #10 – Jarjaraya
The tenth and final mysterious shards in Assassin’s Creed Mirage can be found in Jarjaraya Village, located in the Wilderness southeast of Baghdad. The Tha’abeen and their two bodyguards can be found tracing a path through the fields west of the main village.
Now that you’ve collected all the mysterious shards, don’t forget to use them to unlock some of the best gear in the game! For a visual version of this guide, check out this video:
