We tend to feel that SRPGs stick to their serious plots and engaging gameplay; however, there’s a place for those looking to find love while battling it out. Unicorn Overlord features many romance options for players to pursue. Since this is a staple of the genre, you can expect similar rapport-building mechanics and a grand finale with your chosen partner. However, this time, Vanillaware’s latest installment brings over 60 playable characters, and most of them can become your lifelong partners in the war for Cornia.
All Romanceable Characters in Unicorn Overlord
Beyond its in-depth tactical layers, Unicorn Overlord features many romance options for Alain to choose from. Regardless of the genre, Alain can romance almost anyone in his army, provided you’ve unlocked them and added them to the rebellion. Here’s the full list of the characters you can romance in the game:
Female | Male |
---|---|
Aramis | Adel |
Alcina | Aubin |
Berengaria | Auch |
Berenice | Bruno |
Chloe | Clive |
Melisandre | Colm |
Monica | Gailey |
Nina | Gilbert |
Ochelys | Hodrick |
Scarlett | Joseph |
Selvie | Lex |
Sharon | Mordon |
Tatiana | Renault |
Virginia | Rolf |
Yahna | Travis |
How To Get Married
Beyond romancing any of the bachelors and bachelorettes of the game, you can tie the know with them if that’s what you want. To do so, you must follow these steps:
- Reach maximum rapport level with the character.
- Obtain the Ring of the Maiden.
- Give the ring to your chosen partner.
Marrying any of the romance options in Unicorn Overlord will unlock a specific epilogue with that character once you finish the game. Furthermore, it adds new dialogue with those characters, which makes the battlefield less gloomy.
Are There Character Pairings?
If you’ve played games such as Fire Emblem: Three Houses, you might want to know if certain characters like Lex and Chloe can get married at the end of the game. This is known as pairings, and certain SRPGs feature this mechanic. Sadly, that’s not an option in Unicorn Overlord. It seems Alain is the only one destined for romance, so you can kiss goodbye the chance to see other characters marching down the aisle.
Still, we recommend building rapport with everyone because all conversations build relationships between characters, and watching them unfold as the war progresses is interesting. But if you’re only interested in Alain’s romance and no one else’s, then remember to build rapport as soon as possible in the local tavern or by giving your soldiers some well-deserved gifts.
