Out of the many confusing things that Honkai Star Rail tends to have, Paths remain some of the ones we can’t quite understand. With Aeons, Emanators, and other shenanigans, understanding the meaning and function of each one story-wise can be daunting. Thankfully, Paths in the Simulated Universe of Honkai Star Rail are much simpler, and while all of them are great, we feel only a few can be considered the best in this instance. So, if you don’t know which pack to pick for your next run, we might be able to nudge you in the right direction.
The Best Paths for Simulated Universe in Honkai Star Rail
As of Honkai Star Rail Version 2.1, there are nine paths in the Simulated Universe. Each one has advantages according to each situation, but these are their ranks from the lowest to the best:
9. Erudition
Erudition is a strange Path in and outside of the Simulated Universe. If it weren’t for Argenti, this Path would be long forgotten. Himeko’s satellite was underwhelming, and Jing Yuan’s Thunder God barely tickled enemies. Sadly, it doesn’t shine that much either inside the Simulated Universe. While certain team compositions might use it, it isn’t as great as others. It relies too much on Ultimate and AoE attacks, and while that can be useful, these mechanics aren’t as crucial as those in Pure Fiction, thus making it the weakest Path of them all.
8. Destruction
The Path of Destruction has interesting gimmicks inside the Simulated Universe, which might make this a good pick in Honkai Star Rail. However, its downsides are greater than its benefits. To make it work, you must have your characters at low HP. By sacrificing this stat, you do more damage and add other effects to your attacks. The day we get the Honkai version of Hu Tao, it might work, but for now, it doesn’t.
7. Elation
On the other hand, it is nice to see the Path of Elation shine a bit more in this type of content. It isn’t as powerful as in Pure Fiction, but it still does wonders. If you have characters like Topaz, Clara, and Dr. Ratio, enemies are in for a world of pain. Furthermore, the effects of all these Path’s blessings are quite fun, and reaching a high Path resonance will bring devastating results when you play.
6. Abundance
Yaoshi’s Path is more focused on recovering and maintaining the HP of the characters. This Path is ideal for survival, and when you have a lower level than the enemies, that is to say, you are in more advanced worlds. Abundance practically makes your characters immortal to resist until the last boss plays in the long run. While I don’t recommend this as the main Path, grabbing a few blessings can keep your team afloat.
5. Preservation
The Lord of Ambar, Qlipoth, allows you to gain defense, even if you don’t have any shielder with you. Like Abundance, Preservation helps players to reach the last levels of the SU, especially when the enemies are more potent. However, if you decide to take a shielder with you, no enemy will be able to penetrate your defenses. Similar to the previous Path, I recommend using this as a side thing and not the main one. While the blessings are great, the Path Resonance isn’t.
4. The Hunt
Lan guides this Path to characters that do a lot of damage to a specific target, but in the Simulated Universe, it’s a different story. If you are fighting against the Swarm, Hunt is a specialist at eradicating every bug quickly. It’s also handy if you’re farming, as it speeds up battles with weaker enemies. Most of my Simulated Universe runs have been done with this Path, and to this day, it is one of the best in Honkai Star Rail. However, it works better if you have characters with high DPS potential, such as Seele.
3. Propagation
After defeating the Swarm Disaster, the propagation path became available in the Simulated Universe. Imbibitor Lunae is one of the characters that stands out the most with it; after all, he is an excellent splash DPS, and with this Path, he’s almost unstoppable. Surprisingly, though, Propagation has also blessed Qingque to help her become the most potent weapon in your team if you have her Qingquellion build. Yes, a 4-star character can carry your party effortlessly.
2. Remembrance
The blessing of the Aeon Fuli allows players who choose this Path to freeze their enemies. This is especially useful to prevent monsters from attacking for a few turns, which is better if your level is lower. It is also a practical way to farm fast. This Path is also advantageous if you use Jingliu or fight against Gepard and his infuriating shield. Given how tedious this fight is against this boss, you can stunlock him for many turns and never allow him to spawn reinforcements or even damage you.
1. Nihility
IX’s Path has always stood out for those main Kafka, although in Version 2.1, it positioned itself above all other Paths available in the Simulated Universe. This change came about thanks to the arrival of Black Swan and became even more noticeable with Acheron, who by herself is one of the strongest characters. With a lot of emphasis on Break Effect and DoT effects, having Kafka or Acheron in your party paired with Nihility blessings will make any Simulated Universe run a breeze.
Your chosen Path will also depend on which World of the Simulated Universe of Honkai Star Rail you challenge. While we feel Nihility is great in any World, a few shine better against certain bosses, such as Remembrance against Gepard. Ultimately, you can choose your favorite or do many runs and experiment with each one. While this is our ranking, don’t let it deter you from following your favorite Aeon in the game.
