SNL Comedian Amy Schumer disclosed that her son, Gene, was hospitalized for RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). According to a pediatrician, Dr. Elizabeth Murray, RSV has seemingly been on the rise, and it causes wheezing and mucus in children.
Although there is no direct treatment, it could worsen when a child’s oxygen level drops.
The Trainwreck actress described managing her son’s health as challenging and the hardest week of her life while giving a shout-out to mothers who are going through the same.
Amy Schumer Opens Up After Her Son’s RSV Diagnosis
Following her son’s illness, the TV personality had to juggle her son’s condition and host Saturday Night Live. Managing Gene’s illness made her miss the Thursday rehearsal for the show, which is why Amy Schumer was thankful to the crew of SNL for being supportive and flexible.
“I got to be with my son the whole day at the hospital, and the beautiful people @nbcsnl couldn’t have been more supportive. Also, Gene is home and better now”. Amy appreciated the SNL crew.
Per Yahoo, the weekend hosting gig marks the third time the actress has hosted a comedy-sketch show since 2015. She last appeared in October 2021 when Kim Kardashian hosted sting.
Amy Reveals That Being Away From Family Is Challenging
Being away from Gene and her husband, Chris Fischer, while away on her 65-date tour was quite a challenging one for Amy. However, she is not worried about her son’s welfare, as he is well taken care of while in the care of her husband, Fischer; she just wants to be physically around for him.
“I just miss him; I just want to be physically there. I do think that it is harder for me than it is for him”. Amy said. Chris Fischer is an American chef, the duo got married in 2018. Their marriage is blessed with a son, Gene, who is three years old.
