Keeping up with updates and new phone models is becoming increasingly difficult in today’s “go-go” world. Android’s Lollipop 5.1.1. update recently went active to many phone owners (sadly, my Note 3 seems to be exempt from the new model). Before owners even have the chance to absorb the new features on Lollipop, they will likely have to deal with an entirely new platform in a month. Samsung released an infographic regarding Android M, an entirely new operating system. Android M’s name is still in the works but many users are speculating the name to again involve some form of candy. Here are some of the new features revealed by Samsung:

App Permissions– Instead of giving all forms of access to every application, the user will be allowed to choose the functions they wish to give permission to. A nice addition.

Track Memory– A new memory tab in Android M will show the user how much memory each application consumes and how often they are running. Track Memory will be a very useful tool for those who like to run multiple applications and frequently encounter slow downs.

Quick Finger Print Access– Android products will now allow users to unlock their phone with their fingerprints. Other programs may require the finger print unlock instead of entering the four-digit password we have all grown accustomed to. I am slightly concerned about this feature as some Apple users reporting problems with their version of the fingerprint scanner.

Auto Backup– Android M will be constantly backing up your data from applications. A very nice feature for people who spend a lot of time working on a project and run into an unexpected crash.

Power Saving– The Android device will activate a doze mode if the user has not activated the phone for awhile. Hopefully this mode will be adjustable.

Good luck to those who will be migrating to Android M shortly!
