An Animal Control Officer from Detroit, Michigan, was verbally abused by a disgruntled resident simply for doing his job. Apparently, the man might have gotten angry because the Animal Control Officer was trying to seize some dangerous pets. The confrontation has even led to potential threats after the Detroit resident implied that the Animal Control Officer’s life was wasted because of his work.
The incident was re-uploaded on Reddit, and the footage was actually recorded by the angry Detroit resident. The resident can be seen walking up to the Animal Control Officer’s car and asking him about the authenticity of his Detroit badge, implying that he’s a fake police officer, which eventually led to the scrutiny of just about every visible gear on the officer. For reference, the badge is authentic and even has a number.
Thankfully, the Animal Control Officer managed to keep his cool despite all the provocations. The angry Detroit man was presumably bold in his tauntings since he knew that the specific officer couldn’t arrest him. It’s not clear what exactly the Detroit man was angry about, though the comments assumed that a neighbor possibly reported a stray animal that might have belonged to the hostile man.
Sadly, the video was cut before any resolution was achieved. For the record, though, Animal Control often helps out in rescuing abused animals and even takes down pit bull fighting rings. Some of them also get bitten or hurt by the animals they’re rescuing, especially if it’s an abused dog.
Detroit Man Didn’t Get the Sympathy He Expected
Thankfully, people online were well aware of the hardships of being an Animal Control Officer and how some of them tend to be more honorable than actual police officers. Reddit users on the comment thread have since pointed out that the angry Detroit man had their dog seized for having no license. In Detroit specifically, dog owners need a license to own their dogs.
Meanwhile, other comments have stated that the Animal Control Officer didn’t deserve all that hate, as people who have had a history with that exact same job stated that it’s low-paying despite the dangerous tasks. In any case, the Redditors have highlighted just how cowardly the recorder was for verbally attacking an Animal Control Officer, knowing full well that he couldn’t get arrested.
