So it begins…

Anthem has freelanced it’s way into the “games-as-a-service” portfolio with post-launch content outlined for the weeks and months to come. Yes, the day has come and gone for the launch of Bioware’s newest adventure, or should I say “days”? It’s no secret that Anthem’s staggered release has culminated into a lot of confusion and unease from the gamer’s perspective. This seems to further reflect itself via critical reception and lackluster reviews. How does The Nerd Stash feel about Anthem? Alongside our demo impressions, stay tuned for our incoming review! In the meantime, let’s enter the Forge and talk shop about the future…

EA has seemingly done an incredible job outlining what’s ahead for Anthem’s kingdom of Bastion. It incorporates a monthly breakdown of “Acts” that will occur seasonally.

Anthem
A free play event titled “There Will Be Giants” continues into March as part of the “Evolving World” update to Anthem’s first act.

Where is Anthem Headed?

Divided into monthly installments and weekly updates, Anthem’s future is clear! After “Evolving World” in March, “Stronger Together” in April and “The Cataclysm” in May will finish out Act 01. Each of these installments will offer new missions, events, progression systems, and rewards. Following the Destiny model of maintaining a player-base, one of the biggest things BioWare and EA have going for them is the price point for these story-driven updates: Free!

While the success of Anthem’s longevity largely remains to be seen, there is at least a clear roadmap of post-launch content on which to keep a watchful eye. This is especially important considering a rocky start – something that is becoming more and more routine in the industry.

Where do you stand on Anthem? Will it have what it takes to make up ground and find its footing? Let us know in the comments! Check back soon for our Anthem review! Keep it real and right here at The Nerd Stash.
