People who oppose ICE have taken many different approaches to protest, ranging from peaceful demonstrations to actions that cross serious legal and ethical lines. One such example involved a Virginia nurse whose social media video quickly sparked backlash.
In the video, the woman encouraged single women to target ICE agents through dating apps and suggested sabotaging their drinks as a way to “help the cause.” She claimed that her idea wouldn’t be lethal, insisting that it would only make agents sick and prevent them from working the next day. “Nobody’s gonna die,” she said, before adding that it would make their lives “miserable.”
The video was widely condemned, with many pointing out that encouraging harm, tampering with someone’s drink, or abusing one’s position as a healthcare professional is dangerous and illegal. Critics also stressed that such actions undermine legitimate protest movements and could put innocent people at risk.
The incident served as a reminder that while protest is a protected right, advocating for harm or criminal behavior is not and can carry serious consequences.
In additional videos, the anti-ICE Virginia nurse escalated her rhetoric by encouraging actions that many viewers described as dangerous and unlawful. She made a series of statements suggesting ways to harass or harm ICE agents, which quickly drew widespread condemnation online.
The posts did not go unnoticed. Virginia Commonwealth University Health and VCU Police confirmed that they launched an investigation after the videos began circulating, citing serious concerns related to professional conduct and public safety. The nurse was employed by the hospital at the time.
Shortly afterward, it was reported that she was terminated from her position as a result of the videos. Although the posts were eventually deleted, the damage had already been done, as copies had spread widely across social media platforms.
The incident sparked broader discussion about ethical boundaries, professional responsibility, and how extreme rhetoric can undermine legitimate protest movements while putting others at risk. Many emphasized that advocating harm, especially from someone in the healthcare field, carries real-world consequences and cannot be dismissed as activism or satire.
People Reacting to the Anti-ICE Virginia Nurse Getting Fired
Despite the backlash, a surprising number of people publicly supported the Virginia nurse after news of her termination spread. Under one post sharing the story, a commenter praised her, writing, “A true American hero.” Another added simply, “We support her.”
Some tried to reassure her about the consequences. “It’s ok Ms. Mamas. They need nurses everywhere. You’ll be alright,” one woman commented, suggesting she would have no trouble finding another job. Others downplayed the potential professional fallout. “And even then she will not lose her license,” one person claimed. “Harmful words are not enough to lose your nursing license. Actual harm, real tangible harm has to be done for that to happen. At most she will be reprimanded, take some classes, and do a consent order if it even goes that far.”
The comments reflected a sharp divide in public reaction, with some minimizing the seriousness of the nurse’s statements while others continued to argue that encouraging harm, especially from a healthcare professional, crosses a line regardless of whether physical injury ultimately occurred.
Most of the people who openly celebrated the Virginia nurse being fired appeared to be pro-ICE, and many used the moment to attack liberals more broadly. “Like I’ve been saying, if liberals were sane, there wouldn’t be a Libs of TikTok channel,” one person wrote. Another added, “The loving and accepting side right here‼ Wow, so now they are willing to poison people‼”
Others were even harsher in their criticism. “This is what evil looks and sounds like!” one commenter said. Some focused on the nurse’s profession, arguing that her actions were especially alarming given her role in healthcare. “Wow, this is who’s caring for your mom, dad, sons, and daughters. Your grandparents… this is definitely a crime. She will get what she has asked for,” one TikTok user wrote.
Across the comments, many agreed on one point: sharing videos that encouraged harm was not only inappropriate but deeply reckless, especially for someone entrusted with caring for others.
