The World Cup has brought a slew of tourism to the United States, and many foreigners have been praising the US on social media. Now, it’s Americans’ turn to express admiration for FIFA tourists, thanks to Argentinian fans’ wholesome actions at a Texas game.
The incident occurred on June 27, 2026, after the Argentina vs. Jordan match at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Argentina won the match 3-1, which likely helped boost fans’ morale and inspired them to do a good deed in a manner that kept the celebration going.
A group of Argentinian fans found a wallet on the stadium floor, and they sprang into action to find the owner. Of course, they did so in an appropriately sports-like manner. The group chanted the name on the ID card in the wallet until the man approached them to claim his item. The wholesome celebration that took place afterwards could rival any cheering that happened during the game itself!
Apparently, the person who the wallet belongs to was so caught up in the fun that they didn’t even realize the fans were chanting their name! Adorably, he was chanting along with the crowd before he realized what the chant was saying, and then he went to claim his item. As someone pointed out, “The owner was singing and chanting along until the very end when the dead cold realization came that it was him that the chanting was all along.“
Relieved to get a break from all the controversy on the internet, someone commented on the clip, “Finally something wholesome!” Similarly, someone else shared, “I wish all crowds treated lost wallets this exact way. Imagine the average commuter train.“
Others pointed out that the World Cup seems to be bringing out the best in people. Comments such as, “Man, this World Cup has made me feel good to be a human again. Well done to all celebrating with us here in the US,” flooded the clip’s comments section. Another person even shared, “The good vibes keep rolling in. An incredible World Cup! I even cancelled all my therapy until after the World Cup; I’ve been so focused on all the good times and games. Saved me a couple hundred bucks for the month.“
As the World Cup continues through July 19, moments like this serve as a reminder that, despite the heated rivalries and endless online debates, football also has a way of bringing complete strangers together.
