Ariana Grande has been in the headlines a lot lately, and most recently, it’s over her hand tattoos. The powerhouse entertainer is currently on a massive press tour for her latest film, Wicked. She plays Glinda alongside her new pal, Cynthia Erivo. Over the past few weeks, both actors have been spilling behind-the-scenes info and tea about their time on set. From reviewing their contracts together to singing live while taping, fans have gotten more info from Ari than they have in years.
Throughout filming, Ariana Grande remained quiet. However, she did release an album, Eternal Sunshine, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In the project, she addressed several topics, including her questionable relationship with partner Ethan Slater. She also touched on the comments people have made about her body. But it looks like her catchy lyrics in Yes, And? didn’t stick with listeners the way she had hoped. In a new report from the Daily Mail, Ariana Grande was seen showing off her “prison” hand tattoos. However, people are not feeling them. So, what are the people saying?
Ariana’s Ink Is Turning People Away From Wanting Hand Tattoos
Ariana Grande fans know the singer has many tattoos. She got her first in 2012 when she turned 18. In addition to the butterfly on her tricep and the quote from The Truman Show on her shoulder, Ariana Grande has a ton of ink on her hands.
After performing the Sweetener World Tour, the Grammy winner had the word etched onto her finger. She also has a dotted arrow on her index finger, along with what appears to be a vine on her pinky. The Victorious star, who first got her start on Broadway, has an eye symbol tattoo on her hands, plus a cloud, a crescent moon, and references to her role in Wicked. But that’s not all. According to the Daily Mail, Ariana has over 70 (known) tattoos on her body.
After the pictures of her hands went viral, many fans jumped into the comments to share their thoughts about the designs on her body. “Sorry, but those tattoos are ugly,” someone wrote. “I don’t think they will age well.” Someone else commented, saying they are “so bad and tacky.” A third person also wrote in, saying the ink would be “blurred and faded” at some point. “Soon, her hands will look like she dipped them in grey ink.” Another person wrote about how much they despise “random tattoos … on the neck or hands.”
Ariana Grande hasn’t replied yet about the noise surrounding her tattoos. However, she could at any moment. In the past, she addressed negative comments people had to say about the way she looked, calling them “dangerous.”
“I think in today’s society there’s a comfortability that we shouldn’t have, at all, commenting on other’s looks, appearance, what they think is going on behind the scenes, or health, or how they present themselves.”
Grande Won’t Return to the Stage Any Time Soon
Now that production on Wicked is over, people are hopeful Ariana Grande will return to touring sometime soon. But during a candid conversation with Variety, the musician said that’s not in the cards any time soon. She explained that music would “always be a part of my life,” but for the time being, she’s focusing on acting. “I am appreciative for [my fans’] understanding,” she said.
