The release of Ariana Grande‘s seventh studio album — nicknamed AG7 by fans — may be here sooner than you think. On Thursday, Dec. 7, the “POV” singer revealed on Instagram that she’s officially back in the studio. She shared the exciting news by posting photos and videos of herself seemingly recording new music. Although she didn’t provide any context, fans are convinced she’s getting ready to make a music comeback after taking a hiatus to focus on her acting career.
Is Ariana Grande Working on “AG7”?
In her latest Instagram post, Grande can be seen sitting at a computer while editing audio files. She also bops her head and sings into a microphone to record her vocals. Since she muted her videos, it seems Grande isn’t ready to share her mystery project just yet. However, fans are crossing their fingers it’s AG7.
The singer’s Wicked co-star, Cynthia Erivo, hyped up Grande’s mystery project by saying that “no one is ready” for its release. She also said she’s “so freaking proud” of Grande for getting back in the studio and teased her upcoming project is “so freaking special.” SZA also showed her support for Grande by saying that whatever project she’s working on is “bout to eat.”
Billie Eilish is also just as excited as fans for Grande’s music comeback. She jokingly asked Grande to “UN MUTE” her videos so she could hear what she was working on.
Despite all of the anticipation surrounding Grande’s new album, the star has yet to announce the release date for AG7. She released her previous album, Positions, in October 2020. Since then, Grande has been putting all of her focus on filming Wicked. The Victorious actress is starring as Glinda in the upcoming movie opposite Erivo, who’s playing Elphaba. Wicked: Part One is set to hit theaters in November 2024, while Wicked: Part Two will premiere in November 2025.
