Arknights is an anime-style RPG game with defense tower and gacha mechanics. Hypergryph and Studio Montagne developed this game for Android and iOS smartphones, with it launching back in 2018. Arknights gained such popularity that on its anniversary in 2020, the company launched “Holy Knight Light,” an anime video. But in October 2021, Hypergryph released the first teaser for the first season of its anime Arknights: Prelude to Dawn. In 2023, Hypergryph announced the release date of Arknights season 2, called Perish in Frost, something many fans have been looking for.

The first season tells the story of the world of Arknights in Tera. Some people have animal and other mythological creature traits due to experiments. The same experiments drove civilization to a post-apocalyptic state when they found a powerful mineral that allowed them to use Arts or magic. At the same time, this mineral is very dangerous because it can infect people with a progressive disease, Oripathy. In the game, players must play as “The Doctor” to command the “operators” of a pharmaceutical, medical, and self-defense organization. The mission of “Doctor” is to find a cure for Oripathy. The Arknights: Perish in Frost Season 2 might take place after the end of Prelude to Dawn, and its release date is October 6, 2023.

Arknights announced that all the original staff will return for season 2. Also, the opening theme will be “Ache in Pulse” by Myth & Roid, and Reona will sing the ending theme called “R.I.P.” The broadcast of Arknights: Perish in Frost on its release date will be mainly on TV Tokyo and TV Osaka in Japan. But don’t worry because Crunchyroll bought the licenses to broadcast it to the rest of the available countries.
