It only took 40 years, but Arnold Schwarzenegger is officially the real-life Terminator. After three open-heart surgeries, the 76-year old has made the decision to have a pacemaker fitted, or as he calls it—a “machine part.” He had the pacemaker fitted a week ago, March 18, but revealed the news on March 25 in his podcast, Arnold’s Pump Club.
He said: “Last Monday, I had surgery to become a little bit more of a machine: I got a pacemaker.”But rest assured, everything went smoothly. “First of all, I want you to know I’m doing great! I had my surgery on Monday, and by Friday, I was already at a big environmental event with my friend and fellow fitness crusader Jane Fonda.”
Arnold’s Successful Bodybuilding Career
The ex-Governor of California, who served from 2003 to 2011, started lifting weights when he was just 15 years old. Soon enough, he would become a professional bodybuilder, winning Mr. Olympia seven times. In fact, Schwarzenegger is regarded as one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time. This was before his breakout Hollywood role in Terminator and its subsequent sequel, Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
