The show that started the Arrowverse is nearing its end. Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen AKA the Green Arrow in the hit CW series, has announced via Twitter that season 8 of Arrow will be its last.

https://twitter.com/StephenAmell/status/1103426963849527302?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1103426963849527302&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ign.com%2Farticles%2F2019%2F03%2F06%2Farrow-ending-season-8-cancelled-no-season-9

Arrow made its debut in 2012, taking the more comedic Green Arrow character down a darker route. Taking cues from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, the series has been one of the most popular shows on air and one of the best hits for the CW network. As mentioned before, it was also the start of what is now known as the Arrowverse, the connected universe within CW’s programming of DC shows. Supergirl, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and the upcoming Batwoman series all fall under this roof.

The series has definitely had its ups and downs over the years. The first two seasons are held in high regard amongst fans. With incredible main antagonists like the Dark Archer and Deathstroke at the forefront of them, it’s hard not to see why. The next two seasons weren’t quite up to par for many reasons, the top being that the unnecessary drama was weighing the series down. In season five, Arrow went back to its roots and had a phenomenal return to form. Season six was met with a lukewarm reception but its current season is making waves again as it has once again returned to being a high-quality superhero show. The series’ run has been a roller coaster of a ride for sure, no matter what seasons you liked or hated.

What’s really interesting here is that Arrow is only returning for 10 episodes. This is just more evidence to the theory that Oliver Queen will end up sacrificing himself to save everyone in the highly-anticipated crossover this Fall, “Crisis on Infinite Earths”. Whether Oliver makes it out alive after Crisis or not, season 8 is sure to be action-packed.

What are your thoughts on this news? Do you want Arrow to end? Is this another sign that Oliver Queen is going to die in “Crisis on Infinite Earths”? Let us know in the comments below!
