Assassin’s Creed Shadows is ‘Ghost of Tsushima with Better Stealth’ Claims Leaked Copy Players

Out from the shadows

Assassin’s Creed Shadows won’t be out until March 20th, or nearly a month from now. However, that didn’t stop some rather excited players from getting their hands on leaked copies of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Their impression? Rather positive, and one of them even praised the game as better than Ghost of Tsushima in a certain aspect.

The info about the leak came from Reddit user u/Ajxtt whose friend was one of the people fortunate enough to play an old yet presumably complete build of the game. Overall, it appears the player’s experience was positive for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, with some of its strongest points being movie-like cutscenes and interesting side quests.

Additionally, the anonymous player of the leaked copy claims Assassin’s Creed Shadows lives up to its hype and is essentially “Ghost of Tsushima with an AC feel with better stealth.”

It’s worth noting that Assassin’s Creed Shadows originally had a release date of November 12, 2024, but was pushed to February 14, 2025, due to a series of controversies. Ubisoft then pushed the game further into March 20, citing polish and feedback implementation as its primary reasons.

Now, it seems Ubisoft’s delays and polishing efforts have paid off since one of the praises for the leaked copy of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the minimal bugs encountered. One thing to note, of course, is that the anonymous player said it was an old and unspecified build.

Ubisoft is Confident with Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Earlier in the week, sources claimed that Ubisoft is now positive about Assassin’s Creed Shadows with preorder numbers to back that up. Based on anonymous sources from Insider Gaming, there will likely be no further delay for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Additionally, Assassin’s Creed Shadows‘ preorder numbers are on par with those of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, one of the franchise’s more successful games and one that embraced its full RPG transition. On February 13, Assassin’s Creed Shadows had 300,000 preorders. This number could increase to nearly half a million come March.

Still, controversies and skeptics for Assassin’s Creed Shadows have lingered, with numerous criticisms from nitpicks to long-standing complaints for the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Other criticisms are comparisons with Ghost of Tsushima which has undoubtedly snatched the title of the definitive medieval Japan action game.
