The story trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Syndicate by Ubisoft was unveiled today.

Watch the trailer below:

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, the ninth major installment in the series, takes place in 1868 at the end of the Industrial Revolution. For the first time in the history of the franchise, the game allows players to freely switch between two main protagonists. The heroes of the story are twins Jacob (Paul Amos) and Evie Frye (Victoria Atkin) who arrive in London. They arrive to discover the city is now overrun by Templars. The Assassin Brotherhood no longer poses a threat to Templar rule. With the Church and the Monarchy losing power, it’s up to Jacob and Evie to put a stop to the Templars by bringing the criminal underworld together. Similar to previous installments, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will feature cameos from historical figures, including biologist Charles Darwin and famed author Charles Dickens.

Syndicate will continue the Assassin’s Creed tradition of third-person open world gameplay with side missions. However, the title will not feature any multiplayer gameplay.

Developers Ubisoft Quebec stated that Syndicate will feature improved combat and stealth mechanics. Ubisoft also hopes to improve from the game’s predecessor, Assassin’s Creed Unity (2014), by ensuring a smoother launch. Unity was considered by critics to be one of the weaker titles in the series for their lackluster story, uneven gameplay and several graphical glitches that required the company to hastily release patches.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is expected to drop October 23, 2015 for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
