If you’re hankering for an indie horror experience akin to Little Nightmares, I think I’ve found it. A first look at Ayasa: Shadow of Silence dropped today, an upcoming platformer blending exploration, puzzles, and horror to deliver a spooky narrative-driven experience. Developed by Aya Games, the game introduces players to the Inverted World: a fractured realm where light and darkness once coexisted in harmony, but no longer.

As you’ll see below, it falls on Ayasa to restore the balance of this mysterious world with her unique abilities. Players are tasked with mastering time manipulation, invisibility, and energy control as they traverse the six lands representing Faith, Hope, Love, Greed, Indifference, and Betrayal. Each appears to bring its own unique set of horrors and challenges.

As for how it all binds together in a cohesive story, the Inverted World was once a place of equilibrium but has since been consumed by darkness, threatening to obliterate the delicate balance its ruler, Tash, once maintained. Ayasa, wielding fragments of Tash’s light, embarks on a perilous quest to restore harmony. As players progress, they’ll confront the shadowy forces that have overtaken the lands and explore the consequences of choices made along the way.

“Ayasa is more than a game; it’s an adventure into the unknown, a test of courage, and a fight to bring light back into a world on the edge,” says Edgar Janoyan, CEO of Aya Games in a press release sent to The Nerd Stash.

Here’s an overview of the gameplay features:

  • A Dark and Surreal World: Explore hauntingly beautiful lands with a mix of vibrant and oppressive visuals.
  • Light and Shadow Mechanics: Use light to reveal hidden paths and manipulate shadows to navigate treacherous environments.
  • Challenging Puzzles: Solve intricate puzzles that test your logic, timing and creativity to progress.
  • Unique Abilities: Unlock Ayasa’s powers to outwit enemies and uncover secrets throughout the Inverted World.
  • Immersive Atmosphere: Experience a deeply atmospheric journey with a blend of horror and surrealism.

Ayasa: Shadow of Silence is set for a 2025 release on PC via Steam, PS4/PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Steam Deck. You can check out its Steam page for more.
