Baldur’s Gate 3 has taken the gaming world by storm, and developer Larian Studios has gathered the data on which character classes and races players have been using. With such extensive customization options for classes and a robust character creator, it’s surprising that certain classes and races are significantly more popular than others. There are numerous options available to the player, and you can easily find yourself spending an hour tweaking everything from your ability to speak to animals to your hair color. Because everything looks and works as great as it does, it’s time well spent.

What Are the Most Popular Character Classes and Races In Baldur’s Gate 3?

According to Larian Studios, Elves, Humans, and Half-Elves are currently in the top three most popular races. Coming shortly behind them are the Dragonborn, Tiefling, and Drows. Sitting at dead last are the Githyanki, with the Gnomes and Dwarves just above them.

The Dragonborn is the most interesting visually of the races on offer, but players seem happy with the typical Human, Elf, and Half-Elf races. This journey is 100 hours long, and you’re unable to change your race once you leave the character creation screen, so familiarity has clearly created comfort here with the majority of players.

On the classes side, interestingly enough, the Paladin leads all classes in Baldurs Gate 3 by a sizable margin. Coming in after the Paladin are the sorcerer, Warlock, and Rogue, with the majority sitting relatively even with each other until the Cleric, which didn’t get a lot of play at all.

Paladins are a powerful mix of up close and personal warriors with some powerful magic and buff abilities to back it up. They are essentially a multi-class within one class, so it makes sense that players want some flexibility with their choice.

Regardless of your character class, you can respec early on for a small fee and add multi-classes from the first time you level up. Customization and flexibility have become Baldur’s Gate 3‘s calling card, and the classes and races you can choose from are just the beginning of the wild things that can happen during this outstanding adventure.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
