Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive game with no linear path that can be daunting for many players. While the tutorial is short and straightforward, many players will look for a recommended path in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you want something like that to help you in your adventure and let you see everything during the first chapter of the game, we’ve prepared something for you. In this guide, we’ll tell you where to go first in Baldur’s Gate 3 so you can get the most out of your adventure during the game’s first hours.

You’ll find yourself at the beach as soon as the ship crashes. This place and its surroundings might seem overwhelming for new players and those unfamiliar with the genre. After all, there are just a few quest markers you’ll need to explore by yourself most of the time. If you want to know where to go first in Baldur’s Gate 3, here’s our recommended Path:

  1. Head northeast from the Ravaged Beach (where you wake up) to find the Overgrown Ruins. (Recruit Shadowheart, Gale, and Astarion if you haven’t).
  2. Enter the Overgrown Ruins to find the Dank Crypt and recruit Withers for your camp (this NPC lets you revive characters and respec your class).
  3. Head northeast from the Overgrown Ruings to find Druid Grove. Help the Tieflings and recruit Wyll.
  4. After unlocking the quests inside the Druid Grove, head west and rescue Lae’zel if you want to recruit her.
  5. Keep heading west to find the Owlbear Nest and the Blighted Village above.
  6. After finishing the Blighted Village quests, move north from it to find the Toll House and recruit Karlach.
  7. Head back to the Blighted Village and head west to find the Goblin Camp.
  8. Finish all the quests and rescue Haldin. From there, you can head to the Mountain Pass or the Underdark. We recommend the latter.
  9. For the Mountain Pass, head south from the Goblin Camp, and the Underdark, you can enter through the Shattered Sanctum inside the Goblin Camp.

The abovementioned places are the areas we recommend you go first in Baldur’s Gate 3 to get the most out of the story, yet you can make your path. Ultimately, this game allows you to explore, interact, and do practically everything you want. However, if you want to meet most of the characters of chapter one and do all the quests, the abovementioned steps are ideal.
