Bam Margera’s rehab experience has been great, and things are finally looking up for the professional skateboarder. Before his recent check into rehab, the television personality battled substance abuse and various legal problems. Sadly, all efforts to get his life back together proved abortive, as Margera always returned to his old ways after leaving rehab. However, this time, things seem a little different for the reality star as the motivation for sobriety is Bam Margera’s son Phoenix.
The Motivation Behind Bam Margera’s Rehab Journey
Margera has finally chosen to get his life back on track by taking rehab seriously. While the sobriety journey hasn’t been easy, recent reports have revealed Bam Margera’s son Phoenix is the reality TV star’s source of motivation. According to the reports, the 43-year-old only recently started communicating with his child again. Recall that in 2021 the skateboarder’s estranged wife, Nicole “Nikki” Boyd, filed for primary custody of their son. Over a year later, Margera revealed Nikki permanently cut off his contact with Phoenix. As a result, he threatened to smoke crack until he was dead.
However, not long after, the news of Bam Margera’s rehab journey broke on the internet. Now, Nikki’s lawyer David Glass has said the doting dad is hell-bent on being sober, all thanks to Phoenix. In a chat with TMZ, Glass mentioned that Nikki approved of the father and son’s communication via FaceTime. Insiders also revealed Margera dominated the lovely conversation, talking for about five minutes. Things were finally going well for the first time in a long while, even though Margera’s therapist modulated the FaceTime sessions.
Inside Margera’s Recent Ordeal
Bam Margera’s rehab journey is ongoing at one of Lamar Odom’s Wellness Centers. In April, the former NBA player contacted the Jackass star, offering him a bed at the facility if Margera’s problem was drugs and alcohol. Not long after Odom’s offer, the stuntman was released from a 5150 psychiatric hold. Afterward, Margera took Odom up on his offer. Since then, he has been working toward staying clean with medical help. Hopefully, Bam Margera’s son Phoenix will continue to motivate his father until the journey is complete.
Over the last few years, Margera’s life has continuously been marred by legal issues. The television personality has been arrested multiple times for public intoxication and domestic violence. Things went out of hand in June when Margera posted a scary now-deleted rant. In the clip, Margera threatened to smoke crack until he died if he didn’t see his son. The video led to the star being placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold, after which he checked into rehab. Now, everything seems to be okay, and hopefully, Margera will become a changed man.
