The first teaser for Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders has been released, and it is glorious.
Officially announced last year, Return of the Caped Crusaders will reunite Adam West and Burt Ward as Batman and Robin respectively in an all-new animated adventure.
Adam West and Burt Ward played the iconic characters for 3 seasons, 120 episodes, from 1966 to 1968. They donned the capes and cowls on the silver screen as well in the 1966 Batman: The Movie. Joining them will be fellow Batman 1960s alum Julie Newmar, who famously portrayed Catwoman.
This won’t be the first time West and Ward voiced the characters, in 1977 they lent their voices for The New Adventures of Batman.
The West era of the character is remembered for its campiness and light-hearted portrayal of the characters. The serials would often end with our heroes caught in a life-threatening trap, teasing viewers to tune back in next time to find out how they would escape.

The teaser shows the duo in a similar jam, tied up and left on a giant cafeteria tray of food on a conveyor belt moving towards a large furnace, good stuff. The duo exchange some wordplay relating to their unfortunate circumstance, as they would often do in the tv series, before barely escaping with their lives.
The 90-minute direct to Blu-Ray is being released in celebration of West’s and Ward’s 50th anniversary of portraying the characters. Prior statements from Ward indicate a possible second movie, saying Return of the Caped Crusaders is “one of possibly two—but for sure one—that Adam and I are going to be doing the voices for.”
Batman last animated feature film was The Killing Joke, which was released to a lukewarm reception.
Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders will be first available on digital HD October 11, and later on Blu-Ray November 1.
