The upcoming preschool show starring the infamous cars of the Batfamily, Batwheels, shared its first sneak peek at the DC FanDome event. The Batwheels sneak peek also showed glimpses of the hyper-colorful Gothman City featured in the Batmobile show.
Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. had this to say about the show;
From Batman: The Animated Series to Teen Titan’s Go!, superhero storytelling has been one of our superpowers here at Warner Bros. Animation. We are so excited to bring that expertise over to the preschool space and take something that all kids love, cool vehicles, and give it a turbo boost with Batman!”
Along with Duke Thomas being Robin, Cassandra Cain and Batman both appear in the show. Leah Lewis plays Cain, and Ethan Hawke plays Batman. Batweheels is produced by Warner Brothers Animation. Sam Register is the show’s executive producer, along with Michael Stern and Steven Fink.
What We Know About Batwheels
Originally announced in October, Batwheels is an action-comedy Batmobile show featuring a team of talking cars. The cars consist of Redbird (Robin’s sports car), Bibi (Batgirls’s motorcycle), Buff (Batman’s car), and Batwing (Batman’s jet plane). Together, these Bat-vehicles are led by the sentient A.I. Batcomputer and Batman’s robot repairman Moe. They go on various missions involving fighting other villain-esque cars, including a van that looks a lot like the Joker.
The sneek peak was hosted by Jacob Bertrand, who plays the voice of Buff the Batmobile. He said that he was excited to play the leader of the team, describing the car as a “fun-loving goofball that always puts his team first”. Bertrand also commented that he loved the show’s aesthetic and the spin that it puts on Gotham City. Aj Hudson, who plays Robin in the series, also adds,
I love seeing all thet little animations that they add it; its really cool. The chase scenes are super fun; its exciting to see the world of Gotham through the lens of the cars.”
Batwheels doesn’t have a definite premiere date as of now. However, the show will come on Cartoon Network and HBO Max in 2022.
