The BBC has released new images from the Doctor Who set as well as a look at a new villain. In December, we got our first look at Ncuti Gatwa in his Doctor attire, which consisted of an orange sweater and a patterned coat with matching pants. In this image, Gatwa and Millie Gibson (who is playing Ruby Sunday) are dressed in 60’s garb. In Gatwa’s case, this is a blue and white pinstripe suit and an afro hairstyle. Gibson sports knee-high white books and a black and white dress. Another image and a video feature RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon as a new villain being teased as “the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet.” The villain has no name, but as Collider points out, you got to be pretty bad to surpass the Daleks and the Weeping Angels.

New Images Tease New Era of ‘Doctor Who’
Gatwa is making his Doctor Who later this year. He will succeed returning Doctor player David Tennant, who made a surprise return when the first female Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) regenerated into him. Tennant’s Doctor and his former companion Donna (Catherine Tate) will be the stars of three specials airing this November in honor of Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary. It is during these specials that Gatwa will make his debut. The specials also mark the return of Russell T. Davies as the series showrunner.
It was also recently revealed that Bernard Cribbins will posthumously reprise his role as Donna’s grandfather Wilf in the specials. Cribbins passed away in July of last year.
With a beloved Doctor and a fan-favorite companion making a return, and with these images and this new villain, it appears the BBC intends to make an exciting era for Doctor Who. We will get a glimpse of it with the 60th Anniversary specials coming this November.
