Below Deck fans shared their reactions to Captain Sandy and Fraser Olender’s feud. The drama never stops amongst the crew members aboard St David in Below Deck season 10. Fans got another slice of entertainment following the release of the show’s February 13 episode. In the episode, viewers watched Captain Sandy Yawn, and Chief stew Fraser Olender, engage in a heated confrontation. Sandy attacked the interior crew for slacking on their duties before asking Fraser to shut up when he attempted to defend his team members, especially Alissa Humber.
During his confessional after the altercation, Fraser expressed his displeasure about Sandy shutting him up. He went on to defend the work ethics of his team members and revealed Sandy’s accusations left him in “actual shock.” Later in the clip, fans watched Fraser venting to Alissa, and Chief Stew declared he would not be silenced by anyone even if it meant he gets fired from the show. Sandy, on her part, continued to maintain her stand and explained she would not stand for any kind of indiscipline amongst the staff, particularly from Fraser and Alissa. After the episode aired, viewers of the show were not too impressed with the conduct of both parties and have since taken to social media to call them out.
Below Deck Fans Feel Both Captain Sandy and Fraser Are Wrong
The heated confrontation between Sandy and Fraser left most Below Deck fans disappointed. The fans see the duo as leaders on the boat and expected them to show leadership by example. While responding to a thread that focused on the friction between the two, most fans agreed that both Sandy and Fraser were at fault. The viewers identified the two had opposite management styles that easily set them up against each other. However, their biggest character flaw is that both are too stubborn to admit their faults and make corrections.
Below Deck Fans Feel Fraser Lacks Leadership Qualities
While many fans criticized Sandy for calling Fraser out in front of his team members, they accepted that she made some valid points in her assessment of Fraser and his team. Most fans slammed Fraser for his lack of leadership and claimed he was not assertive enough. They backed up their claims by citing his poor handling of Camille and Alissa.
Meanwhile, some fans felt Fraser cared too much about the stews liking him than having them show respect and do their jobs. They pointed it out as a big problem for any boss working within the yachting industry. According to the fans, Fraser’s lack of experience in the leadership role has affected his overall performance as Chief Stew.
Below Deck Fans Feel Captain Sandy Lacks Management Skills
Although Below Deck fans usually side with Captain Sandy during some of her spats with crew members in the past, this time around, it wasn’t going to be the same outcome. While reacting to the thread on Reddit, many fans called her out for her poor management skills. Also, most fans revealed they were taken aback by her behavior since she replaced Captain Lee Rosbach.
The fans claimed they’ve since come to understand why many crew members disliked her. They even cited how new stew Tyler Walker noticed she was horrible to the interior team barely three days after joining St. David. One fan wrote:
“Sandy stays making her crews hate her. Weird how no other captain has an issue being likable.”
Another answered saying:
“YES. Key example: Tyler has been on the boat for 3? Days and immediately said Sandy was horrible to the interior.”
Hopefully, Sandy and Fraser will be able to work through their differences. There has been a lot of tension between them this season, and it always threatens to spill over at some point. However, they need to settle their differences and complete the charters they have left.
