If you know Stranger Things, then you know about the Demogorgon. Granted its name from the characters’ love of Dungeons and Dragons, the Demogorgon was the main beast from the Upside Down, hounding the characters in the first season. Unfortunately for Dead by Daylight survivors, it also found its way into the game. If you want to truly enjoy the Demogorgon in Dead by Daylight, you need the best perks for the best builds.
Best Builds for The Demogorgon in Dead by Daylight
The Demogorgon arrived in 2019 for CHAPTER 13: Stranger Things. However, that left the game on November 17, 2021. You can only play as The Demogorgon if you bought the DLC prior to that date. However, you may still find a physical copy of the DLC in stores or the DLC can still be available in some console stores. In those cases, you can nab The Demogorgon. Otherwise, new players are out of luck.
For those of you who own The Demogorgon in Dead by Daylight, you can craft the best builds for it using many old and new perks.
Before we get into that, let’s touch on their former unique perks:
- Surge
- Cruel Limits
- Mindbreaker
Since The Demogorgon is no longer available in Dead by Daylight if you didn’t already have it, the game retired those perks, but you can still use them in your builds. They have been replaced as General perks with new names:
- Surge –> Jolt: If you down a Survivor with a Basic Attack, Generators within 32 meters explode and regress. It also places a progression penalty of 6/7/8%.
- Cruel Limits –> Claustrophobia: Vault locations within 32 meters of a completed Generator become blocked for Survivors for 20/25/30 seconds with their auras revealed.
- Mindbreaker –> Fearmonger: Survivors repairing Generators suffer Blindness and Exhausted effects. This lingers for 3/4/5 seconds after they stop repairing.
We can’t forget The Demogorgon power: Of the Abyss. You can place portals down on the ground, activating them to travel the map quicker and surprise Survivors.
Now, let’s get into the perks you can use to create the best builds for The Demogorgon in Dead by Daylight.
Best Beginner Build for The Demogorgon
If you only have the base Killer and general perks, you can still make a solid build for The Demogorgon that works for your Dead by Daylight playstyle.
For this first build, let’s focus on finding Survivors and slowing down Generators. To create this build, you want to use Jolt (General) along with these perks:
- Bitter Murmur (General): Once Survivors complete a Generator, any Survivors within 16 meters of it have their aura revealed for 5 seconds. Upon the completion of the final Generator, all Survivors have their aura revealed for 5/7/10 seconds.
- Whispers (General): The Entity whispers to you when Survivors are 48/40/32 meters from your location.
- Sloppy Butcher (General): Basic Attacks cause Mangled and Hemorrhage effects. Bleeding frequency increases by 50/75/100%, and regression rate from healing progression lost by Hemorrhage increases 15/20/25%.
This is as simple as they come for beginner builds for The Demogorgon, but they can help you learn the Dead by Daylight Killer.
Best All Perks Builds for The Demogorgon in Dead by Daylight
With more Killers unlocked, you can have a bit more fun with your Demogorgon Killer. Plus, you can better take advantage of its add-ons so you can create a violent and hard-to-stop character.
For the first build, let’s focus on our speed. We don’t want Pallets to slow us down, so we need perks that will keep The Demogorgon moving and keep pressure on Survivors:
- Hubris (The Knight): If a Survivor stuns you, said Survivor is Exposed for 10/15/20 seconds.
- Spirit Fury (The Spirit): Activates after breaking 4/3/2 Pallets. Next time you’re stunned by a Pallet, The Entity instantly breaks it.
- Enduring (The Hillbilly): Pallet stun duration reduces by 40/45/50%.
- Tinkerer (The Hillbilly): If a Generator is repaired 70%, you hear a loud noise notification and gain Undetectable for 12/14/16 seconds.
To make this one of the best builds for The Demogorgon, you also need to rely on its Dead by Daylight add-ons. Barb’s Glasses is great since it decreases the Pallet break cool-down for its Shred ability by -15%. Meanwhile, Rat Liver is handy for speed since it increases movement speed while you charge Of the Abyss by +3.5%.

This next build works well at slowing Survivors down and finding them with ease. To utilize your Portals with this one, aim to set them up near your totems. This way, you keep your Hexes and have the opportunity to down Survivors:
- Hex: Devour Hope (The Hag): Receives 1 Token if you’re 24 meters away from a rescued Survivor.
- 2 Tokens: 10 seconds after you hook a Survivor, gain 3/4/5% Haste for the next 10 seconds.
- 3 Tokens: Survivors are permanently Exposed.
- 5 Tokens: Can now kill Survivors with your hand.
- Hex: Undying (The Blight): Survivors within 2/3/4 meters of any Dull Totem have their auras revealed. If your other Hex Totem is cleansed, it transfers to the Undying Totem instead.
- Dragon’s Grip (The Blight): Activates for 30 seconds when you damage a Generator. The first Survivor who interacts with it will scream, have their location revealed for 4 seconds, and gain Exposed for 60 seconds.
- Discordance (The Legion): A Generator being repaired by 2 or more Survivors and within a range of 64/96/128 meters has its aura revealed in yellow. When first revealed, it triggers a loud noise notification. If only 1 Survivor remains on it or it’s no longer in range, the aura lingers for 4 seconds.
For add-ons, Lifeguard Whistle is good for the build. It reveals Survivors near activated Portals without you charging Of the Abyss. To keep slowing Survivors down, bring Upside Down Resin. It increases the time Survivors have to seal Portals by +40%.
Those are just a few of the best builds for The Demogorgon in Dead by Daylight. Try them out and see how much fun you have the next time you dive into the game.
Dead by Daylight is available on PC, PS5, and PS4 systems, Xbox One and Series consoles, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
